Halle Berry Opens Up About Relationship Challenges And Triumphs
In a candid conversation on Dax Shepard’s “Armchair Expert” podcast, Halle Berry shared some personal insights into her romantic life, revealing a recurring pattern in her relationships. The Oscar-winning actress admitted that she has struggled to maintain relationships beyond the three-year mark, a milestone that has often signaled the end for her past romances. Berry, who has been in a relationship with musician Van Hunt since 2020, celebrated a significant personal achievement when they surpassed the three-year mark. “This is the longest relationship I’ve ever been in in my whole life,” Berry, 58, shared. "We celebrated when we hit four years like we had been married 20 years, that’s how big it was for me personally". Reflecting on her past relationships, Berry explained that they often ended around the three-year point because she realized she had entered them for the wrong reasons. “There was something about it that felt wildly familiar, but I realized that I had just gotten into things for all the wrong reasons, and it always became clear to me what those wrong reasons were at about three years,” she said. However, her relationship with Hunt feels different. Berry noted that she approached this relationship in a new way, which has made all
the difference. "Because I got into this thing with Van in a different way, that feeling never came because I didn’t get into it for the wrong reasons"12. She described Hunt as her “person,” someone who is calm and exactly what she had been searching for12. Berry also shared that both she and Hunt were apprehensive as they approached the three-year mark, each waiting for the other shoe to drop. “We were both scared,” she admitted. "He was waiting for the shoe to drop, and I was waiting to drop theshoe. Because I just can’t get past that. It’s been such a relief, like, ‘OK, yes, I can do this relationship thing’". The actress, who has two children from previous relationships, expressed gratitude for finding a partner who complements her in ways she had always hoped for. “He just showed up. He was chosen for me,” she said, highlighting the serendipitous nature of their meeting. Berry’s openness about her relationship struggles and triumphs offers a relatable glimpse into the complexities of love and personal growth. Her story is a testament to the idea that sometimes, the right person comes along when you least expect it, and with the right approach, past patterns can be broken.
